The Parsi New Year is popularly known as Pateti. Delicious food, old customs, and fervour celebration is a part of this festival. Nawruz, the Parsi new year is celebrated all over the world on the first day of Zoroastrian calendar that is, 21st of March every year. However; Indians are known for following the Shahansahi calendar which leads to the celebration of New Year taking plays later in the year.

The Parsi New Year famously known as, Nawruz follows Zoroastrian religion. The celebration marks the rejuvenation of everything which is a part of this universe. It is believed that the New Year celebration was started by the prophet Zoroaster. The festival holds a great importance among the Parsi community of Maharashtra.
Nawruz, which marks the start or new beginning is a 3000 years old tradition celebrated with enthusiasm by the community. They clean, decorate, and wear traditional Parsi outfits. The tradition also involves Parsis visiting fire temples (a place of worship for Zoroastrians) to pray for their well-being and also ask for forgiveness for all their misdeeds. This time of the year is also considered pure and Parsis try to give alms to the poor as much as it is possible for them.

The guests are welcomed by sprinkling rose water which is considered auspicious. Family and friends gather to celebrate the New Year and enjoy delicacies like Pulav, Moong daal, Sali boti.
