BJP releases election manifesto for Delhi Assembly Polls 2020

The Trinamool Congress won Kaliaganj and Kharagpur Sadar seats as the results for bypoll which took place across three constituencies in West Bengal were declared on Thursday, November 28.

TMC’ candidate Tapan Deb Singha defeated his nearest BJP rival Kamal Chandra Sarkar in Kaliaganj, while the Congress and Left candidate Dhitasree Roy came third.

“I don’t want to comment on whom the Rajbonshi community voted for. But one thing is clear; the minorities voted for TMC. I admit that National Register of Citizens (NRC) is the reason behind my defeat. There was fear among the people regarding NRC,” Sarkar told media.

He further added, “We failed to make people understand that NRC in Assam was different. NRC is implemented by the Centre and not the BJP as a party. People thought BJP was implementing NRC and this went against us.”

The Kaliaganj assembly constituency comes under Raiganj Lok Sabha area.
