In a shocking incident on Tuesday in Patlipanka village of Kendrapara district, a family of four including a couple and their two minor daughters suffered critical injuries after unidentified goons hurled acid on them at night.
According to reports, four members of the family went to sleep after dinner and later some unidentified persons entered the house and hurled acid on them through an open window.
However the actual reason for the attack is still unknown, family members alleged that the attack was over a previous enmity.
The injured family members included Himanshu Barik (30), his wife Minati Barik (28) and their minor daughters Shalini (7) and Sonali (2). The four were taken to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) and later their condition worsened, they were further shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Himanshu sustained critical injuries in his eyes and face and his condition remained critical, sources claimed.
Following the information, police registered a case and started an investigation into the issue. The incident extended tension in the village as angry locals asked immediate arrest of the accused and appropriate investigation into the case.
