Sushila Devi, the first lady of the State and wife of Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal, passed away at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Monday.

Sushila Devi, the first lady of the State and wife of Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal, passed away at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Monday.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed deep grief at the passing away of Sushila Devi and described her as a warm and pious person. Patnaik also conveyed his sympathy to the Governor and other members of the bereaved family.

Condolences poured in from various quarters following the demise of the First Lady of Odisha. Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan expressed profound grief and sadness at the passing away of Sushila Devi.

Susheela Devi, wife of Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal,” the AP Governor tweeted and said that she was a warm and kind person and actively participated in several programmes for the welfare of the poor and needy.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJP National Vice President Baijayant Panda also condoled the demise of the First Lady of Odisha.

Deeply saddened to hear about the sudden demise of our First Lady, Smt Sushila Devi Ji. My deepest condolences to His Excellency, the family, and the nation as a whole. My thoughts and prayers with the near and dear ones. May her soul rest in peace,” wrote Odisha Assembly speaker Surjya Narayan Patro on his twitter handle.

Earlier on November 2, Ganeshi Lal and his wife Sushila Devi along with four other family members had tested positive for Covid-19. All six members were admitted to a designated Covid hospital in Bhubaneswar for treatment.
