Odisha: Students take life-threatening ferry to appear in Matric Exam

Puri: As many as 40 students of the Padiara School in Astaranga block, Adabansa village in the district had to resort to a life-threatening ferry ride to appear in their High School Examinations that began on Friday.

The students were seen crossing the river on the boat without any life jackets. They were going to Surendranath Vidyapitha examination centre, Sundara village to appear for the annual Matric examination.

As there is no direct road connectivity due to under construction Biju Setu over the Devi river, the students no other option than to reach to the exam center with a boat ride.

The foundation stone for the bridge was laid down by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in 2014, the project was slated to be completed this year but is the construction remains to be finished, OdishaSunTimes reported, citing sources.
