One nation spreading terror: PM Modi’s veiled attack on Pakistan

Speaking at the G 20 summit which is being held in Hangzhou, China, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said terrorism was being spread by a single South Asian country. PM Modi in the final session of the G 20 said, “Growing forces of violence and terror pose a fundamental challenge. There are some nations that use it as an instrument of state policy.”

He added, “India has a policy of zero tolerance to terrorism because anything less than that is not enough. For us, a terrorist is a terrorist.”

Without naming Pakistan this is the second time PM Modi has attacked the neighbour and characterising it as the base for terrorism in the region. Modi urged the international community to fight terrorism. “Those who sponsor and support terrorism must be isolated and sanctioned, not rewarded,” he said.

Modi insisted on the platform that terrorism is the central challenge the world is facing today. He warned that if this issue is not dealt seriously the world is going to face a huge problem in the coming months.

External affairs ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said Modi discussed about counter-terrorism cooperation with British Prime Minister Theresa May. Modi called for more collaboration in cyber security and intelligence-sharing and information gathering, Swarup added.
