The first session of newly elected 17th Lok Sabha has begun today on June 17. The Lok Sabha will have a total of 30 sittings and Rajya Sabha 27 sittings, ending July 26.

The pro-tem Speaker Virender Kumar will administer oath to the newly elected Lok Sabha Members of Parliament (MPs) today. The Speaker will be elected on June 19 and on the next day President Ram Nath Kovind will address a joint sitting of both Houses.

During the session, passage of the Union Budget and other key legislations such as triple talaq will be on top of the agenda for the government. The second Narendra Modi-led government is set to deliver fresh Budget for financial year 2019-20. This time, the Budget will be presented by the new Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
