Paush Purnima 2021 is one of the most auspicious days of the paush month for all the Hindus as this day marks as one of the ceremonious days to take bath in the holy river of Ganga and Yamuna.

This day of Paush Purnima 2021 as the name suggests falls on the full moon day of Paush month and also is known as Shakambari Jayanti.

It is said that on the day of Paush Purnima 2021, a dip in the holy river of Ganga or Yamuna helps in getting rid of all the bad deeds one has done in the past and present life.

The tithi for Shakambari Jayanti will start at 1:17 am on 28 January and will end at 12:45 am next day on 29 January. Devotees who will observe the Shakambari Jayanti fast have to start from sunrise and will break their fast after worshipping Moon God in the evening.

Paush Purnima 2021 Significance

On this day taking holy bath in the holy river of Yamuna or Ganga at Triveni Sangam at Prayag and Dashashwamedh Ghat at Varanasi is considered very auspicious.

Many devotees observe Satyanarayana fast and worship Lord Vishnu on this day. As per the mythology, after giving Arghya to Lord Sun while taking a bath in the holy river, offer prayers to Shiva lingam and conclude the rituals by performing Arti and distributing the Prasad.

Other than that, on Paush Purnima, one can donate essential things such as clothes, food, money, and other things to the needy people. So, it is said that on Paush Purnima one can perform donation is fruitful.
