How are petrol, diesel prices are calculated?
Petrol prices in India contain various components which though largely are determined by international crude prices. While most of the articles in the country are under the ambit of the GST, the fuel prices continue to remain outside it. Petrol prices currently have excise duty, VAT as their components, with VAT going to the state government, the excise duty is imposed by the central government.
In Delhi, an increasing trajectory has been seen in the prices, this is due to the fact that international oil rates have gone up.
