New Delhi, May 2 (IANS) Delhi police are looking for a man said to be the key suspect in the murder of a woman doctor whose body was found on Tuesday night with its throat slit from her rented accommodation in Ranjit Nagar in Central Delhi.
Chandra Prakash Verma has been missing since the mysterious murder, a police officer said on Thursday.
Garima Mishra (25), an MD aspirant, belonged to Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur. She was found dead in her room located on the third floor of a building. She was last spotted by her landlord on Tuesday night at 11.45 p.m.
“Her friend, Chandra Prakash Verma who stayed in the adjacent room, was preparing for MD exams. He has been missing. We have formed teams to nab him and raids are on at all possible places including his home town and relatives,” said DCP Mandeep Singh Randhawa.
Police sources said it appears to be a case of “one-side love” gone terribly wrong. “Chandra Prakash Verma liked Garima Mishra, but she treated him as a good friend. Verma had arguments with her over it and might have killed her in a fit of rage.
The victim previously worked as a junior resident doctor at NC Joshi Memorial Hospital in Karol Bagh. She quit her job because she was preparing for MD examination.
A broken kitchen knife with bloodstains was found from the spot, police said.
The victim and Verma also attended a common coaching centre in a Karol Bagh area.
“Police teams are probing the case from all possible angles. The reason of the crime will be clear once Chandra Prakash Verma is arrested,” DCP added.
