President Droupadi Murmu to address nation on eve of Independence Day

President Droupadi Murmu will address the nation for the first time at 7 p.m. on the eve of the 76th anniversary of independence.

The address by Droupadi Murmu, who was elected President last month, will begin at 7 p.m. on the entire national network of All India Radio (AIR) and will be broadcast in Hindi on all Doordarshan channels, followed by an English version.

The address will be broadcast in Hindi and English on Doordarshan, followed by a regional language broadcast on Doordarshan’s regional channels.

The former Jharkhand governor, 64, is the country’s first tribal president. She is from the Santhali tribe of Odisha.

For the past five years, former President Ram Nath Kovind has addressed the nation on the eve of Independence Day. During his speech on the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, Kovind discussed Covid-19, the Tokyo Olympics, the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat, Jammu and Kashmir, the Gaganyaan Mission, climate change, and Covid vaccination, among other topics.

On August 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort.

Meanwhile, people are enthusiastically participating in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate India’s 75th year of independence.
