Punjab FC attend 1st Asian-European CL team doctors workshop

New Delhi, Nov 27 (IANS) The first Asian-European Champions League doctors workshop recently concluded in Doha, Qatar. The conference’s motive was to improve applied medical science in the field of sports and was held on November 13 and 14.

Dr. Dato’ Gurcharan Singh, Director, Medical Department, Asian Football Confederation (AFC), Dr. Michel D’Hooge, Chairman, Medical Committee, Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) were among the significant dignities present at the conference.

Clubs from Europe in the likes of Juventus, Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, FC Basel, Chelsea & Liverpool were present among all other participants. From Asia, Iran’s Persepolis, Kashima Antlers from Japan, Thailand’s Bangkok United & Punjab FC from India attended the 2-day workshop.

Along with these club representatives, sports doctors from Tokyo Medical University, Japan and sports doctors from Hong Kong were also

present.

Dr. Pallawi Bishnoi (PT) represented Punjab FC and India at this conference. She was the only full-time female sports doctor to attend the conference. Dr. Bishnoi expressed that the experience she gained from this conference was phenomenal.

“It was basically a round table discussion, we discussed how minutely yet detailed we can work on a daily basis in the football club,” she said.

In her words, “In India, we do things differently compared to others. We can apply the thoughts and the techniques which can benefit our players and develop the medical science applied in the field of sports.”
