Rajasthan: 7-year-old Bundi boy thrown into water tank, beaten by teacher

Kota: A seven-year-old physically challenged boy studying at a private school in Bundi city has been beaten with a stick and thrown into a water tank by his class teacher for allegedly failing to put covers on his textbooks on Thursday. The accused teacher then pulled the child out of the water tank.

Sonu Singh, the boy’s father said, “When our son reached home at 2 pm, his uniform and shoes were soaked in water. When his mother asked him about it, the child revealed that he was severely punished by the class teacher of Central Academy Secondary School in Devpura for not covering his books.”

Following a complaint by parents of the boy on Thursday evening, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) assured that action would be taken after an inquiry. Police have even started an investigation into the incident.

The father added, “Mahima madam first beat me with a stick after holding my hands. She held me on the top of the water tank and dropped me into it,” the boy reportedly told his parents. “The same teacher immediately pulled him out of the tank.

A duty officer at Sadar police station ASI Durgashankar Gautam said, “A complaint in this connection has been received on late Thursday evening and an investigation into the matter is underway.”

ADM Bundi Umanat Ullah Khan did not respond to a call when contacted for comments on the incident, according to TOI report.
