Alleging excessive mental harassment from senior officials, a 25-year-old woman constable in Jalore committed suicide by hanging herself from a rope inside her official quarter.

Geeta Vishnoi was posted at Sanchore police station and had returned after completing her duty on Thursday. She was found hanging while still in her police uniform. According to the reports, she had sent a message to her brother saying that her officer had marked her absent on the day of Holi, and she was therefore disturbed.

In the suicide letter, she apologized her bother and parents for taking the extreme step and said that she could no longer live her life as she was deeply exasperated due to Sanchore SHO, and head constable. In the same letter she wrote she claimed that she wanted to live but these people would not let her.

A native of Dhorimana in Barmer district, her relatives alleged that she was pushed to take the extreme step because of the senior staff.

Speaking to TOI, Jalore SP Keshar Singh said that an FIR under Section 306 (Abetment of suicide) has been registered against Circle Officer (CO), SHO and a woman constable. The family members however refused to hand over body for the post-mortem until officials were suspended.
