Rajasthan: Police constable hangs self to death over casteist remarks by colleagues

A police constable stationed at Sikar Mahila Thana in Sikar district of Rajasthan, hanged himself to death on Saturday night over alleged humiliation and casteist remarks by his colleagues.

Going by the reports, no suicide note was recovered near the deceased however, police officials recovered a Whatsapp message claiming harassment before taking the extreme step.

A case under IPC Section 306 (abetment of suicide) against the SHO and three cops of Mahila Thana.

A report by a leading publication informs that Laxmikant had joined the force in 2008 and the Mahila Thana on September 8 this year. He was found hanging from the ceiling fan at his home in Sikar on Sunday morning.

No suicide note was found but in a WhatsApp message, the constable claimed harassment by police personnel at the Mahila Thana.

Police suspect the constable killed self possibly due to an illicit relation. However, the investigation team are yet to find any evidence to corroborate the claims of the deceased constable as he had joined the Mahila Thana only six days ago.
