While talking to media on the voting counting day when Congress attained decent lead in the Ramgarh bypoll election, Deputy CM Sachin Pilot said that this was the first election after we came to the power, people tried to break the votes in the name of caste, religion but the common man has shown confidence in Congress, Rahul Gandhi and our government.”

With Shafia Zubair Khan’s win Congress now have 100 MLAs in a state with 200 seats.  Khan got 83,311 while BJP hope Sukhwant Singh registered 71,083 votes in his favor.

The voting for by-poll elections for Ramgarh constituency took place on Monday morning. The elections could not take place on December 7 along with the state due to the death of BSP candidate Laxman Singh, days before the Elections. Among the 20 candidates that are contesting, a close fight between Congress hope Shafia Zubair Khan, BJP candidate Sukhwant Singh and BSP’s Jagat Singh was anticipated.

Congress party made a comeback as Rajasthan over the last 4 elections has chosen to vote out the incumbent government. The vote counting took place on December 11.

The Congress won 99 out of 199 seats, ousting the ruling Vasundhara Raje-led BJP government.
