Bihar: Governor Fagu Chahuhan appoints Rajendra Singh as Magadh University vice-chancellor

The appointment for the office the vice-chancellor took place after the same was lying vacant for nearly 10 months.

Gaya: Bihar governor Fagu Chauhan on Thursday, September 27, appointed Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University’s former vice-chancellor Rajendra Prasad as the new vice-chancellor of Magadh University.

A notification regarding the same was issued by Raj Bhavan late Thursday evening. It said the appointment has been made by the governor in consultation with chief minister Nitish Kumar who visited the Raj Bhavan earlier in the day.

The appointment for the office the vice-chancellor took place after the same was lying vacant for nearly 10 months after Qamar Ahsan was made to resign by then chancellor in December 2018.

Earlier, former governor-cum-chancellor Lalji Tandon had constituted a search committee for the appointment. But, after the interview process, the search committee failed to find any suitable candidate for appointment as VC. Hence, the chancellor had to order for re-advertisement of the post, according to a TOI report.

Fresh advertisements were issued in June. Interviews for the appointment of by a duly constituted search committee took place recently and a panel of names recommended by it was submitted to the chancellor.
