As many as 9 security personnel of RJD supremo, Lalu Prasad Yadav have been tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. Dr Umesh Prasad, who is treating Lalu, has reported this to the Ranchi Institute of Medical Sciences(RIMS) management and incident commander.
RJD chief has not come in contact with any corona-infected personnel. New security personnel will be deployed who will be screened before deployment. Lalu wil be kept under observation for few days, as per reports.
Lalu Yadav was shifted from the paying ward of RIMS to the official residence of the hospital director early in August. The jail authorities decided to shift the former Bihar CM to Bungalow on the hospital premises after doctors treating him submitted a proposal to move him to an isolated area to prevent him from getting infected with COVID-19.
Earlier, three of his caretakers tested positive for the infection on July 25. The bungalow has been vacant since former RIMS director Dr DK Singh was relieved of his duty in June.
Meanwhile, the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections is going through various twists and turns. The exchange of parties has become a daily development. The RJD received twin jolts on Thursday with Chandrika Rai, party chief Lalu Prasad’s daughter-in-law’s father, joining Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal-United along with two other MLAs, and former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party quitting the Opposition grand alliance.
Ministers and senior JDU leaders Bijendra Prasad Yadav and Sharwan Kumar welcomed Chandrika and MLAs Faraz Fatmi and Jai Vardhan Yadav to the fold at a function at the party’s state headquarters here. All three legislators hail from well-known political families.
