The Rashtriya Janta Dal(RJD) on Sunday observed its foundation day and took a cycling rally against the central government in the form of processions from ward to panchayat and district headquarters in the state.

Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of RJD, bicycled from his residence to reach the party office in the capital city, Patna. Each year the party celebrates its foundation day by organizing events. This year due to the widespread of the novel coronavirus, it was celebrated differently. The party opposed the central government by cycling against the price hike of petrol and diesel in India.

Moreover, Yadav blamed BJP for the inflation in India. He left the party office with an aggressor against the NDA government and said that this government has plagued the poor people. No one is getting employment, nor are they receiving proper treatment of coronavirus. The price of food items has been increasing steadily due to rising oil prices.

Bihar Assembly Elections are to be held this year. The term of the current assembly elected in 2015 will expire on 29 November 2020. The Election Commission of India has announced the elections for nine vacant seats in the Bihar Legislative Council to be held on July 6.

The Election Commission (EC) recently sent a letter to 150 registered political parties in Bihar directing them to disclose reasons for giving poll tickets to candidates with criminal records. This has led to jitters within political parties in the state.

Moreover, Chirag Paswan from Lok Janshakti Party removed a district president in Munger for stating that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is united in Bihar. The letter announcing the removal said his statement was against the party line and only the Lok Janshakti party’s national president could make such statements.

On the state election front, parties are rallying in the state and connecting to the public virtually. CM Nitish Kumar is using the virtual outreach programme of his party JD(U)  for the build-up to the forthcoming election.
