Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) national vice president Raghuvansh Prasad Singh has resigned from his post. He is currently admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Patna as has tested positive for COVID-19.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, RJD’s five MLC resigned from the party and joined JD(U). The RJD leaders who left the party are Sanjay Prasad, Mohammad Qamar Alam, Radha Charan Saha, Ranvijay Kumar Singh and Dilip Rai.

This came after LOJPA MP Ram Kishore Singh alias Rama Singh met RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. Rama Singh was once an opponent of the RJD party. A five-term MP from Vaishali, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh lost the seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls to Rama Singh and failed to wrest it back five years later.

Raghuvansh Prasad Singh was admitted to AIIMS after his health deteriorated on June 16. Back then some regular check-ups were done and he was kept in the isolation ward. The RJD national vice president, who had served in the cabinet headed by former prime minister Manmohan Singh, had no recent travel history outside the state.
