RPCAU Maize Varieties 2025:Developed for the agro-climatic conditions of Bihar, three new maize varieties that is, Rajendra Baby Corn-1, Rajendra Pop Corn-1, and Shaktiman‑5 have been developed by scientists at Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (RPCAU) in Pusa, Bihar. Announced just recently, these kinds are set to revolutionize maize farming throughout eastern India.

RPCAU Maize Varieties 2025

Targeting small and marginalized farmers, Rajendra Baby Corn-1 is a short-duration hybrid. It matures in about two months, generating 200–300 quintals per hectare of green fodder and 12–15 quintals per hectare of baby corn. Quick turnaround makes this double-purpose crop perfect for farmers looking for fast income cycles as it provides both food and livestock feed value.

Rajendra Pop Corn-1: Great Yield and Popping Efficiency

Maturing in 80–90 days and producing 30–40 quintals per hectare, Rajendra Pop Corn-1 is intended for the urban snack market. Remarkably, it has a popping efficiency above 95%, hence generating butterfly-type popcorn appropriate for commercial packaged food demand. Shaktiman‑5 is a biofortified maize abundant in lysine and tryptophan that helps to solve protein shortage in the cereal-heavy diet of Bihar by addressing both nutrition and farm income. Perfect for inclusion in nutrition programs, midday meals, anganwadi schemes, and livestock feed, it fits national projects including Poshan Abhiyan and the National Biofortification Mission.
