The arch-rivals India and Pakistan are all set to take on each other in the ICC World Cup 2019 match on June 16 at the Old Trafford in Manchester. The broadcasters from both sides are busy promoting and marketing the high-voltage clash between the two sides, on their respective platforms.

Only a few months ago, after the Pulwama attack, many experts and fans wanted the Men in Blue to stop playing Pakistan which led serious doubts over the world cup clash between the two sides. Though the relationship between the two countries is still sour, the match looks set to go ahead.

Ahead of the marquee clash, the commercial ads have taken the centre stage now. While the broadcaster in India, Star Sports mixed the Mauka Mauka version with Father’s Day theme and trolled Pakistan. The advertise depicted India to be Pakistan’s father which attracted a lot of criticism across the border.

In response to that commercial, Pakistan TV channel aired a promotional advertisement for the match wherein a character mimicking Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was shown. In the 33-second video, a character was seen impersonating Abhinandan while wearing the jersey resembling the Indian cricket team.

However, this hasn’t gone well with the Indian Tennis star Sania Mirza.

Indian tennis star and Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik’s wife, Sania Mirza took to her official Twitter handle and lashed out at the broadcasters on both the sides, calling the ads ‘cringeworthy’ and also asked not to hype up or market the match anymore.

Sania Mirza wrote, “Cringeworthy ads on both sides of the border ? seriously guys, you don’t need to ‘hype up’ or market the match anymore specially with rubbish! it has ENOUGH attention already! It’s only cricket for God sake, and if you think it’s anymore than that then get a grip or get a life !!”

India and Pakistan meet for the seventh time in the World Cup, where India have never lost a match against traditional-rivals Pakistan and will be looking to keep their record intact as they face them in the Cricket World Cup 2019.

While India have always beaten arch-rivals Pakistan at world events, Pakistan had the last laugh in the Champions Trophy final in 2017.
