After the huge success and appreciable performance by Vicky Kaushal in “Uri: The Surgical Strike,” the actor is back to rule the Indian cinemas with his role of the legendary freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh which is being directed by Shoojit Sircar.

The first look of Uri actor Vicky Kaushal from Sardar Udham Singh is out, which shows him on the streets of St Petersburg.

The actor sports a suave hairstyle and a wound mark on his right cheek below his eye, dressed in an overcoat and surrounded by vintage cars and a Russian woman can also be seen in the frame. The intense look of Vicky Kaushal for the period drama is being widely appreciated by the fans on social media.

“There’s a burning intensity and anger that I saw in his eyes during our first meeting itself, that convinced me he was the one right man to play Udham,” said Shoojit about casting Vicky Kaushal, in an interview to Mumbai Mirror.

He added, “The film is based on Udham Singh’s life, particularly one event which we had already researched. Since Vicky is from Punjab, a Sikh family, it’s a huge responsibility for him too.”

Recently, the Uri actor Vicky Kaushal tweeted his first look as Sardar Udham Singh, he wrote, “Running my fingers thru the bullet holes at Jallianwala Baug, little did I know that 1 day I’d get a chance to bring alive the lesser known martyr, UDHAM SINGH.”


The biopic is set in the 1940s when the revolutionary Udham Singh assassinated Michael O’Dwyer, former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab of British India to avenge the horrors of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

Earlier it was Irrfan Khan who was signed for the project, but the actor had to be replaced after he was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour.

The film is written by Ritesh Shah and Shubendu Bhattacharya, produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar. Shooting of the film will take place in Russia, London, parts of Ireland and Germany, and India.
