New Delhi, Feb 27 (IANS) The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to pass any order on a plea for online registration of complaints of attack on Kashmiris, triggered across the country in the wake of Pulwama terror attack, and the setting up of a helpline.

“We are of the view that at this stage, no further directions in addition to those recorded in the order, dated February 22, would be called for,” said the Bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice L. Nageswara Rao and Justice Sanjiv Khanna.

However, the court directed 11 states on whom notice was served on February 22 to respond within seven days.

These states are Maharashtra, Punjab, UP, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand.

The court also took on record the statement by Attorney General K.K. Venugopal that after the court had intervened on February 22, no such attack had occurred.

The court also rejected intervention application by the J&K People Forum.

At the last hearing of the PIL by Tariq Adeeb, the court had directed the state/UT Chief Secretaries and the Directors General of Police (DGP)to take prompt action to prevent threats, assault, intimidation and boycott targeted at Kashmiris, especially students, in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack.
