Passengers of Lion Airplane were terrified to the core after they saw a scorpion crawling above them.
A video that is doing rounds on social media shows a scorpion crawling on the overhead luggage area scared the passengers of the plane.
The Lion Air flight T-293 going from Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport in Riau to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten witnessed the incident last week. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media with people terming it as horrifying and scary.
Indonesia newspaper quoted a passenger saying “When the plane had landed, one passenger was taking their things out of the compartment, that’s when suddenly the scorpion appeared above our seat.”
Danang Mandala Prihantoro in a statement on Friday said, “From the results of observations, according to the video or image that developed, the animal in question resembles a spider.” However, photographs and videos clearly show a scorpion. He also said, “To assure the safety, security and convenience of passengers during the flight, the plane was properly examined to eliminate any possible pest threat.” Danang on Friday also said that the airline was still investigating the incident.
The spokesperson’s statement also reveals that the cabin crew was unaware of the presence of the creature onboard and they didn’t know how the scorpion entered the flight.
