Ekadashi Tithi will commence at 6:05 p.m. on January 17 and end at 4:03 p.m. on January 18. On this day, devotees perform the complete Shattila Ekadashi rituals in worship of Lord Vishnu. The Ekadashi fast lasts three days. A day before the day of fasting, devotees consume one meal in the afternoon. On ekadashi, devotees are required to observe a strict fast and break it the following morning after sunrise.

During ekadashi, it is forbidden to consume any type of grains or cereals.

Depending on their will, devotees may observe fasting with or without water, with or without fruits, or with one-time latex foods. However, this must be determined before beginning the fast.
