Sheila Dikshit takes a swipe at Arvind Kejriwal over “Muslim votes shifted to Congress” remark

While reacting to the chief minister’s remarks, Dikshit said “Don’t know what is he trying to say. Everyone has a right to vote whichever party he/she wants to vote. People of Delhi did not understand nor liked his governance model.”

New Delhi: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Sheila Dikshit on Saturday, May 18 said, everyone has a right to vote whichever party he/she wants to vote. The statement comes after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal earlier said that Muslim votes in the national capital shifted to Congress at the last moment.

While reacting to the chief minister’s remarks, Dikshit said “Don’t know what is he trying to say. Everyone has a right to vote whichever party he/she wants to vote. People of Delhi did not understand nor liked his governance model,” according to news agency, ANI.

When the Indian Express asked Arvind Kejriwal how many seats the AAP is going to win in 2019, he had said “Let us see what happens. Actually, chunaav ke 48 ghante pehle tak saaton seat lag raha tha Aam Aadmi Party ko aayengi. Last moment pe complete Muslim vote got shifted to Congress. Last night, the night before election. We are trying to figure out ki hua kya hai. Poora ka poora Muslim vote jo hai woh Congress ko shift ho gaya. They are 12-13 per cent. (48 hours before the polling, we were confident of winning all seven seats. But at the last moment, Muslim vote got shifted to Congress. We are trying find out what happened)”.

Delhi voted on May 12 during the sixth phase of voting for Lok Sabha Elections 2019. A total of 164 candidates are in the race for the seven seats in Delhi – Chandni Chowk, North East Delhi, East Delhi, New Delhi, North West Delhi, West Delhi and South Delhi.

The voting percentage in Delhi was recorded to be 60 per cent in national election 2019. In 2014 general elections, BJP won all the seven parliamentary seats.
