The romantic action thriller, starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani, Anil Kapoor and Kunal Kemmu in the lead roles, Malang released in Feb this year and it performed reasonably well at the box office.
The success of the film led to confirming of the sequel which Mohit has already started working on. Also, it was recently reported that Shraddha Kapoor had been finalised to play the female lead.
A source in the report has been quoted as saying that the pairing of Aditya and Disha will not be repeated in the second part and that the makers are very clear about it. It further said that Shraddha was already intimated about Malang 2 when she was brought in to do the “little voiceover” for Malang. It further said that Aditya and Disha might have cameos in Malang 2 but they will not play the leads.
The source informed the portal that Sidharth was the first choice of the makers for the lead role and that they were waiting for the lockdown to be lifted to pitch it to him. It also said that since Mohit shares a good relationship with Sid, he will take it forward from here.
On the work front, Sidharth will be seen next in Shershaah, the biopic of Param Vir Chakra awardee and army captain Vikram Batra. The film, co-starring Kiara Advani, is scheduled to hit the screens on July 3 this year. However, given the coronavirus pandemic, it will most likely be postponed.
