Singer Zubeen Garg joins Cotton University protests against Citizenship (Ammendment) Bill

Former state CM Prafulla Kumar Mahanta has also joined the students in the protests.

Singer Zubeen Garg and his wife Garima Garg joined the Cotton University (CU) students in protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in Assam’s Guwahati on Friday, December 6.

The students of the university have decided to ban the entry of members of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh supporting the Bill into the campus, according to GuwahatiPlus report.

Former state CM Prafulla Kumar Mahanta has also joined the students in the protests.

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday gave its nod to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 that seeks to provide Indian nationality to Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Parsis, Jains and Buddhists fleeing persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, IANS quoted sources as saying.
