Sona Mohapatra slams Janhvi Kapoor's new song 'Nadiyon Paar', calls it sorry saga

Singer Sona Mohapatra who is quite outspoken on social media has slammed Janhvi Kapoor’s new dance number from Roohi ‘Nadiyon Paar’.

The song is a recreated version of the hit Shamur song, Let The Music Play. The original song was released in the early 2000s and is still a huge hit amongst the masses. Sharing a news article on the song on her Twitter handle, the singer wrote, “The sorry saga of remixing songs in Bollywood continues, the message that they put out is clear – we have no need or respect for original creators, creation, music composers, lyricists even singers. What it also says is that we have no confidence, spine, guts to back the new.”

The Ambarsariya singer further wrote that there are just a few people in the Hindi film industry, who believe in musicians and the novelty that they can bring to storytelling.

“The last decade has seen the worst of this state of fear & lack of faith in the creation of new Music in Bollywood. I laud the rare few exceptions who continue to believe in our unique legacy of cinematic musicals, where the language of music was so key in taking forward narratives,” she tweeted.

The original song had been composed by Emanuele Marascia and Alessandro while the remix version is the brainchild of Sachin-Jigar.

Shamur’s vocals from the original are joined by Jigar Saraiya, IP Singh, and Rashmeet Kaur in Nadiyon Paar. The newly added lyrics have been written by IP Singh and Jigar Saraiya.
