Surprise! CBFC did not cut Jeetu and Ayushmann’s kiss from Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan

Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) which is a coveted body that decides which film will be stalled or released seems to have gotten fits of letting things go. This week sees the release of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, a gay love story starring Ayushmann Khurana and Jitendra Kumar.

Moviegoers definitely fear that this film has to face some modifications at the hands of the CBFC since it is based on a taboo topic.

But they can breathe easy as the CBFC has asked for very little changes, none of which will affect the storyline.

Reports have come up affirming that “Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan has been awarded a U/A certificate by the Board.

There’s a kiss between the homosexual couple in the film, played by Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar. It’s shown in the promos as well but CBFC hasn’t touched it at all.”

The changes asked by the CBFC were very minor.

“Dialogues that affirms violence against women and some offensive word against Malayalis were asked to be changed. An abusive word was snipped and replaced with ‘Bhains ki aankh’.

One minor visual of Maanvi Gagroo was also asked to be removed. Finally, Hindi fiction disclaimer and anti-smoking message during the film were asked to be inserted.”

The makers seem to be very happy with the CBFC decision, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan was given a UA certificate on February 14 and the total length of the film is said to be 1 hour 59 minutes.

Yesterday, they put out a picture of the cast of the film standing with the censor certificate and the caption made it clear that the CBFC has been lenient over the film.

Interestingly, the first part of this franchise – Shubh Mangal Saavdhan – was based on erectile dysfunction and was also given a U/A certificate, that too without any cut.

The other release of the week is BHOOT: Part One – The Haunted Ship and this horror flick has also got a good deal from the CBFC. It was passed with no cuts and the Board only asked for relevant disclaimers at the beginning of the film. Its length is 1 hour 56 minutes and it is the second Karan Johar-produced film after Kurbaan to get an ‘A’ certificate.

Entertainment freaks have to just be themselves as the indications look like CBFC wants a filter-free expression of the movie-making process.
