Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the heritage site Taj Mahal, Haryana minister, Anil Vij, on Friday called the monument a beautiful graveyard and said that it is inauspicious to keep its model in homes.

NCP spokesperson, Nawab Malik, on Thursday asked PM Modi to make clear his stand over the Taj Mahal controversy. “The RSS, in its shakhas, gives out false preaching to people who are later inducted in the BJP and given constitutional posts. If what these people are saying is true, the prime minister should openly state that it is true,” Malik was quoted as saying by the PTI.
BJP MLA Sangeet Som had also made controversial remarks about the monument.
During his visit to Meerut last week, the legislator from Sardhana had claimed that the Taj Mahal was built by an emperor, who had imprisoned his own father and had targeted many Hindus in his kingdom. His comments came days after media reported that a booklet brought out by the tourism department of the Uttar Pradesh government left out the Taj Mahal from its list of major tourist destinations.
