A 7-year-old girl was brutally raped and killed by three unidentified men in Tamil Nadu. The minor’s body was found in a shrub at the Anbal Village, near Avudaiyarkovil in the Pudukottai district.

The minor identified as Jayapriya was a 7-year-old girl.

Yesterday, the girl’s mother filed a missing complaint with the Embal police and the search was accelerated. Later her dead body was found with multiple injuries. The body was then sent to the Pudukkottai Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.

The netizens on social media are demanding justice for minor and since then #JusticeforJayapriya is trending on Twitter.

As per the prima facie evidence, she was last accompanied by a neighbour who said that he was taking her to a nearby temple. Her father who is an agricultural labourer expressed his suspicions after she did not return home, after which an official complaint was lodged. The police started their investigation on Wednesday and managed to track down her body near an empty pond outside the village area on Thursday.

Shortly after the investigation, the Pudukottai police arrested accused 25-year-old Raja in the case. One more accomplice, accused in the case is said to be absconding.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami took to Twitter to express his condolences. He said, “The incident of the rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl near Aranthangi in Pudukkottai district is heartbreaking. Severe action will be taken against those involved in this act. My condolences to the little girl’s family.”

The heart wrenching incident has left everyone in shock and many are triggered by the images of the girl that are doing rounds on social media. Some of the netizens said that “the picture of the victim should not be circulated.”

One of the user said that ” Really don’t know how to react.
She was just 7 years old. She was raped brutally by 3 people in Tamil Nadu.
We can’t even imagine the pain she must have gone through.
The criminals need to be punished harder.”

Another user said that “Why on earth are men this cruel, ruthless mongrels.

How on earth can you even think of raping or molesting or whatever.

Yuck, such a disgrace.

May the departed poor soul, RIP”

Police is conducting an investigation into the incident.

 

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has taken up the matter calling the incident “really painful.” The commission has also spoken with the SP of Pudukottai district and enquired about the case developments. It has also asked for the investigation to be completed soon. The NCPCR has ensured that the culprit will be brought to justice under the POCSO act and compensation will be given to the family members of the victim.
