Tamil Nadu Weatherman: Kerala to witness heavy rainfall this September in 150 years

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned several districts in Kerala for heavy rains in the coming days and orange and yellow alerts have been issued in districts on the amount of expected rainfall.

According to Tamil Nadu Weatherman Pradeep John, Kerala may receive 2300 mm rainfall in the month of September for the third consecutive year. The weather expert also mentioned that Kerala could witness heavy rainfall this year than in 150 years.

As per John’s statement, if the rain continues in Kerala it may observe 2,000 mm of rain in the next two or three days. September will end after 15 days but it is expected this year Kerala will record a hat-trick of 2,300 mm rain. According to previous records, the state received 2,517 mm of rain in 2018 and 2,310 mm of rain in 2019.

As per reports, an orange alert has been given to Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts on September 14 and 15, and yellow alert to Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on September 16 and 17.

Meanwhile, The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has asked the public to take precautions about the same as there are chances of floods if the rain continues.
