In an appalling incident, an assistant labour officer (ALO) who allegedly paid an ex TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) man a sum of Rs 1 Crore for his transfer, was murdered and his body was dumped deep inside a forested area.
On March 7, the ALO, Anand Reddy had gone missing. The ex-TRS functionary, identified as Pradeep Reddy, has been arrested.
The police said it was about four months ago that the ALO requested Pradeep to help him get a transfer from Khammam to Warangal.
“Pradeep promised him a transfer using his influence and asked him to pay Rs 1 crore in instalments. He also promised the ALO a share in his sand mining business. As planned, the entire money was paid to him over a period,” said a senior Warangal police officer probing the case.
When his transfer did not materialise, Anand started asking Pradeep to return his money. “But after the recent local body polls, the party expelled Pradeep due to alleged negative propaganda during elections and he no longer held any influence in the party,” the officer said.
The ALO continued to ask for his money and then Pradeep decided to murder him. He convinced the ALO to take land instead of money, claiming that he has large tracts of land in Bhupalapally.
According to the plan, Pradeep called Anand to Warangal and then took him to Bhupalapally on the pretext of showing the land and killed him, police said.
“After committing the murder, Pradeep dumped the body in Gollabuddaram forest area,” said commissioner of police V Ravinder.
Based on a complaint by the ALO’s brother-in-law Indrasena Reddy, police picked up Pradeep Reddy and questioned him. “During interrogation, he confessed to killing the ALO. His body was found in the Gollabuddaram forest. We are investigating the case further,” Ravinder said.
The Ex-TRS man has been arrested by the police and the probe into the matter is underway.
