03:30 PM | TRS has taken over 110 out of 120 municipalities in the Telangana municipal elections. The Congress has won in 4 municipalities while the BJP could register a win on only one seat. Counting for the remaining 9 municipalities is still underway.


01:30 PM | TRS has won 337 wards, Congress-94, BJP-35, AIMIM- 20, Independents-34, Others-5, CPI-2,  TDP-1,  CPM-1. TRS is also leading in 101 out of 120 municipalities, and 6 out of 9 municipal corporations.


AIMIM wins Bhainsa municipality: AIMIM – 15 wards, BJP 9, others 2


12:20 PM | TRS candidates win in wards 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 22 and 28 of Nizampet municipality.


11:50 AM | TRS has won 872 out of 2979 wards. Congress got 244 wards, the BJP 116 wards


11:33 AM | According to the results so far in Telangana municipal elections,  TRS wins 620 wards, Congress 170 and BJP 80


11:30 AM | In Bhainsa municipality which witnessed communal clashes recently, BJP is leading in 6 wards, the AIMIM in 7 wards.


10:55 AM | Celebrations began at Telangana Bhavan, the headquarters of TRS as results indicated that the party is headed for a clean sweep in the Municipal elections. TRS has already won 62 of the 120 municipalities and 2 of 9 municipal corporations

The results of the Telangana municipal election results in 2020 would be declared today. The State Election Commission was scheduled to begin the counting of votes at 8 am at all designated centers.

The electoral battle was contested primarily among the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).

Counting of votes for elections held in 120 municipalities and nine corporations in the State, began at 8 am on Saturday. State Election Commissioner V Nagi Reddy said that the final results will declared by returning officers after obtaining approval from election observers by evening.

Initial trends indicated a thumping majority for Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) across the State. The ruling party is leading in over 80 percent of 2,971 wards in 129 civic bodies, as well as is expected to reign supremacy in over 100 municipal bodies. In all, 81 candidates were elected unanimously, where 78 candidates were from TRS. The party already registered win in seven wards in Chennur, Wardhannapet, Suryapet and Parkal municipalities.
