Thiruvanthapuram: A temple priest has been arrested for sexually abusing a minor. The accused priest, Maniyappan, is the priest at Sree Krishna Swamy Temple in Eenchakkal.
The minor girl was a student of class 10, she met the priest last week with her mother and informed him that she was experiencing anxiety about her coming class 10 exams. The priest asked the minor girl to come and meet him later. When the girl arrived, he tried to abuse the girl later at a two-storeyed building beside the temple.
The incident came into notice when the girl rushed back to her home and informed her parents about the incident that took place later in the evening.
Following this, a case was registered at the Fort police station. Maniyappan, the priest was later presented in the court and remanded for 14 days.
