In a highly tragic incident, a 22-year-old man identified as Asim Siddiqui died after being run over by a truck while he was trying to avoid potholes.

According to the police, the accident happened at around 10:30 PM on Wednesday when Asim Siddiqui, a resident of Tanwar Nagar in Mumbra, had gone to get his scooter filled with petrol, a Mumbai Mirror report said.

Siddique’s relatives claimed that owing to potholes on the stretch, the victim lost control of the bike and fell off. “He was on his way home from the petrol pump when the incident took place. His bike skid over a pothole and he fell on the road. The speeding trailer ran him over and caused stomach injuries,” said Javed Siddique, 60, Asim’s father.

He continued saying,“we took him to a hospital in Mumbra, where the doctors recommended that he be shifted to another hospital. After this, we moved him to a private hospital in Thane. Here, he died due to excessive loss of blood on Wednesday.”

Following the, Shil-Daighar police registered a case against the truck owner for rash and negligent driving and causing death by negligence. The cops are searching for the truck owner.

However, police officials also accepted that of late, potholes on the Shil-Daighar and Shil-Kalyan Road had grown in numbers, resulting in traffic jams and accidents.
