Taapsee Pannu starrer Thappad is finally out on the silver screen, the trailer of the film was very much appreciated but the release of the film came up with average numbers. The film talked about the issue of domestic violence in which Taapsee is playing the lead role.
It was the story of Amrita who one day after getting slapped by her husband (played by Pavail Gulati) decides to end it once and for all. Not just the trailer, the film got appreciated by the critics and the audience not just for its plot but also for the impressive performances by the actors.
The film earned average number on the first day of its release and initiated its start with Rs 3.07 crore on an opening day. On Friday the film collected 3.07 cr, whereas on Saturday it lead a push and collected 5.05 crore and on Sunday it increased ad thus came by Rs 6.54 cr. The Total of ₹ 14.66 crores has been collected so far by Thappad.
It was crucial for the film to work well seeing the competition it is facing from previously released films- Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Vicky Kaushal’s Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship.
