A study conducted at the University of Turin found that The Wizard of Oz is the most influential movie ever.

After an analysis of over 47000 movies, the tale produced by Mervyn LeRoy topped the chart beating strong candidates like Star Wars.

The researchers at the University said, ““We have developed an algorithm that uses references between movies as a measure for success, and which can also be used to evaluate the career of directors, actors and actresses, by considering their participation in top-scoring movies”.

As far as the actor rankings are concerned, Samuel L. Jackson, Clint Eastwood came out to be at the top. While among women, Lois Maxwell was listed first.

The rankings were carried out with the help of a computer programme which created a network of films to produce the result.
