Three candidates elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha in Assam

Ajit Kumar Bhuyan collected his credentials himself whereas Bhubaneswar Kaita and Biswajit Daimary collected theirs through their respective representatives

Three politicians from Assam have been elected to Rajya Sabha unopposed, this includes, NDA candidate Bhubaneswar Kalita and Congress-AIUDF candidate and veteran journalist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan and BPF candidate Biswajit Daimary.

On Wednesday, an official announcement was made by Returning Officer Narayan Deka on collecting their credentials.

Ajit Kumar Bhuyan collected his credentials himself whereas Bhubaneswar Kaita and Biswajit Daimary collected theirs through their respective representatives.

All three candidates have been elected unopposed to the Upper House of Parliament as per the current seat tally in the 126-member state assembly.

On Friday – the last day for filing nomination – NDA candidate Bhubaneswar Kalita and Congress-AIUDF candidate and veteran journalist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan had submitted their nomination papers before the returning officer.

Earlier, BJP and its two ally parties – Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) – candidate Biswajit Daimary had filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha polls.
