New Delhi, Dec 17 (IANS) Protest demonstrations at different places in Delhi over the citizenship law changes inconvenience the public on Tuesday, with traffic police using Twitter platform to alert hassled commuters who griped over the situation.

Delhi Traffic Police posted on its Twitter handle @dtptraffic in the morning: “Traffic Alert: Road No. 13A between Mathura Road and Kalindi Kunj closed for traffic movement due to demonstration. People coming from Noida advised to take DND or Akshardham to reach Delhi.”

“Massive traffic jam around Ashram Chowk. Traffic blocked all the way till Sarai Kale Khan for vehicles coming from Akshardham and all along DND for vehicles coming from Noida. Please avoid the stretch.”

Another tweet read: “Similarly people going to Noida from Mathura Road advised to take Ashram Chowk, DND or Noida link road. Okhla underpass going towards Kalindi Kunj is also closed for traffic movement.”

One user said: “Thanks for the update.”

Another user enquired: “When is the normal traffic flow going to resume and underpass opened. This is very inconvenient.”

One post read: “Can we please have a timeline by which you intend to open 13A for traffic. This will help to plan morning, evening commute better.”

A Twitter user griped: “I don’t understand why you people have closed the underpass, how will our children commute for schools? Today, school van was unable to pick just because of that; all surrounding areas are facing problems; if you want to close then close the roads near Jamia Nagar. Why the underpass?”

“Why can’t we control them instead of troubling commuters, getting highly inconvenient,” said another hassled user.

A tweeple remarked,”Am I the only one who takes traffic signs literally serious in Delhi??”

“How many roads will be closed. Really sad. The underpass at Okhla is unnecessarily closed. People are suffering… must try to manage without closing them if needed you can use volunteers….”, added another.

One post read: “Please see the traffic situation in Google maps. It’s chocked all the way from DND toll onwards till Ashram. I just crossed the jam while going towards Noida.”

Another read: “Traffic from Akshardham towards Maharani Bagh is fully choked… 2km jam packed roads both carriageway.”

One user advised fellow commuters: “Traffic is affected from Daryaganj to Delhi Gate due to demonstration. Kindly avoid the stretch.”

Meanwhile, it was reported that several metro stations near Jafrabad in Seelampur were closed after protests broke out in the area.
