This typo in your Potter book can fetch you £20,000!

Whip out your of dog- eared copies of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone novel as it can make you richer by £20,000!

Surprised? Even we are, because as reported by The Sun, an easily missable typo in the first edition of the novel is expected to fetch up to £20,000 at auction. Even though there have been hundreds of millions of Harry Potter books sold since 1997, but around 500 earliest hardback copies carry a small typo. And if you happen to own one of them, you are sitting on a small fortune.

The 53rd page of these 500 copies carry an error where it lists the number of items required in Hogwarts. The list has placed the words “1 wand” twice, once in the start and once towards the ending.

London’s Bonhams Fine Books and Manuscripts are planning to sell one of the books in November for an extortionate sum. They have said, “As the first book in the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone has a special place in the affections of the millions of readers across the world and the proof reading error about the wand in the first edition has, of course, become a treasured piece of Harry Potter arcana.”

The Independent has also said that Abebooks has that if a copy has the print line 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 and the name as Joanne Rowling instead of J.K Rowling, then it’s a first edition first issue copy and can fetch $40,000 to $55,000. Paperback first editions were scarce and can be sold for five figure amounts if it is in good condition.
