Unable to meet expenses, Hyderabad woman sells 2- month-old baby for Rs 45,000

As she was unable to make both ends meet, the woman took the decision of selling off her son

A woman in Hyderabad allegedly sold her 2-month-old baby for Rs 45,000 to her neighbours as she was unable to meet expenses. The woman, who has been deserted by her husband had been living in Subhanpur area of Hyderabad.

The woman was identified as Sk Zoya Khan. The other accused were identified Ayesha Jabeen, Shameem Begum, Shameem’s sister Siraj Begum and two mediators- Sk Mohammed and his wife Tabassum.

On August 11, a man named Abdul Mujahed approached the Habeeb Nagar police station and claimed that his wife had sold their child. The man is the manager of Daruwala bar and restaurant in Subhanpura, Nampally. The man said that the baby was sold to Sk Mohammed and Tabassum Begum for Rs 45,000.

After the complaint was filed, the police took Zoya Khan into custody. During interrogation, Zoya confessed to the crime. On August 3, Mujahed started fighting with his wife and left for his parents’ home.

Zoya was allegedly upset with her husband’s behaviour. As she was unable to make both ends meet, the woman took the decision of selling off her son, The Times of India reported. Zoya then contacted the accused and told them that she wanted to sell her 2-month-old son.

The woman agreed to sell her baby for Rs 45,000 and handed him over to the accused in the first week of August. On August 8, Mujahed came back home and asked about his son. Zoya told her husband that she had sold off the baby, following which, he started locating him. Unable to find the 2-month-old baby, Mujahed approached the police and lodged a complaint.
