UP: Mahatma Gandhi statue vandalised by unidentified people at a college

A statue of Mahatma Gandhi was vandalised by some unidentified miscreants at Gandhi Inter College  in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaulaun district on Friday.

Following the incident, Congress and SP workers reached the college and staged a protest demanding immediate arrest of those responsible.

On a compliant from the college, Police officials rushed the spot to cool down the situation. An FIR was registered against unidentified persons and work to repair the statue has started.

Congress district president Shyam Sundar claimed that the statue was unveiled by former prime minister Indira Gandhi and demanded installation of a new statue.

A protestor demanded the authorities to take stern action against those responsible. He also demanded installation of another statue before Gandhi Jayanti.
