UP: Teenager beaten to death on suspicion of stealing Rs 500

Agra: On Monday, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly beaten badly by her distant relatives who suspected she had stolen Rs 500, succumbing to her injuries she died.

The victim was a resident of Navtigadi area of Tajganj, she was thrashed, brutally beaten, assaulted on mere suspicion of theft.

On February 13, she was even attacked with rods, sticks and sharp items by her distant cousins, including a teenager, beat her with an iron rod and a wooden stick.

According to TOI, the victim’s deceased uncle issued the following statement stating, “Two weeks earlier, my niece was assaulted by our distant relatives and their children because of a suspicion that she might have stolen Rs 500 cash, which was never found in her possession. She was thrashed with multiple injuries and was later admitted to hospital on Monday where she was declared dead. ”

According to TOI, Circle officer of Sadar, Vikas Jaiswal on his statement told, “Based on the autopsy report findings and written complaint lodged by victim’s relative, legal action will be taken in this case. It is unbelievable that a victim can be beaten so brutally just on mere suspicion of theft. Proper legal action will be done as per our duties.”
