Agra: Primary teachers, who are yet to receive their salaries for February participated in ‘Holi of corruption’ a symbolic gesture to show their unhappiness. The protest took place in front of the Basic Shiksha Adhikari’ (BSA) office.

The teachers came together under the banner “Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (RSM)” and alleged that the officials are intentionally delaying the salaries, resulting in their financial and mental harassment.

“The basic education department officials are so insensitive. They have failed to disburse teachers’ salaries even ahead of the festival. This has been intentionally done to harass teachers. We strongly condemn it and will be forced to hit the roads if our salaries are not released soon,” RSM district president, Mukesh Dagaur was quoted as saying by the TOI.

District general secretary of RSM, Abhay Yadav said, “Over 7,000 teachers and ‘shiksha mitras’ of Agra district celebrated this year’s Holi without salary. We had approached the BSA’s office for salary for the last 15 days.”

“However, no action was taken. And this is not the first time. Teachers’ salaries are getting delayed every month, nowadays,” he further added.

According to BSA Anand Prakash Sharma salaries of teachers for the month of February got delayed due to income tax related issues. “The teachers are expected to get it in April – along with the salary of March.
