In an unusual incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district, gold and silver coins were unearthed from a soil mining field at Khedi Khushnam village. During the illegal soil mining being conducted at midnight, the gold-silver treasure was recovered from the muddy field.
After the news broke out, locals ran towards the field. According to a report in a Hindi daily, the metals recovered weighed nearly 2-2.5 kilograms. It is being said that the gold and silver coins from the field are Mughal-carpet, which would have been pressed in the field at some point in time.
Meanwhile, Revenue department officials rushed to the spot and interrogated the farm owner and its labourers. As per the reports, after the police had gone, people were again digging and sorting out the soil in search of treasure.
