Prakash Swaroop Pandey, additional superintendent of police, said “The couple, it appears, is mentally disturbed and he kept telling us that his daughter was alive and sleeping.”

The post mortem report will reveal the cause of death of the deceased and further action would be taken thereafter, he added. The neighbours said that the couple never interacted with them and always remained aloof.

Siddiqui had retired in 2015 and lived with his wife and daughter in the house. He has two sons who live in other cities and police is trying to find them. Pandey said though Zeenat appeared to have died of natural causes, the police are probing the matter.
