Uttar Pradesh releases quarantine guidelines for flyers, 14-day quarantine mandated in some situations

As domestic passenger flights resumed on Monday across the country except Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal, different states have released their own set of rules and regulations to control the spread of COVID-19.

Several states said passengers will be taken to a facility only if they show symptoms of fever or cough, in line with Union government guidelines released on Sunday, while several have decided to additionally mandate or suggest self-isolation for either 14 or 28 days, even if a traveller is asymptomatic.

Amid the nationwide lockdown, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with the officers of the ‘COVID-19 management Team-11’.

As flights resume, these are rules and protocols for flyers by Uttar Pradesh Government:

  • Passengers must register on Uttar Pradesh government’s website: http://reg.upcovid.in
  • The website seeks details of the traveller and family members travelling along with her/him
  • An SMS and a pdf file will be sent on the phones of registered travellers
  • This registration is key to them being allowed to leave the airport at the destination point
  • The CISF will let them leave the airport only after checking the message that the above site has sent on the traveller’s mobile phone
  • The state of UP will put arriving passengers into home quarantine for 14 days
  • A notice will be stuck outside their homes and social check and support protocol or guidelines will be followed
  • If a traveller has a return  ticket and is staying for less than a week, home quarantine is not insisted upon
  • If the passenger has already cleared the coronavirus test earlier, no home quarantine for him/her
  • Passengers can get themselves tested for coronavirus on the sixth day and end quarantine when the test is negative
  • If passengers do not have adequate quarantine facilities at home, they can be kept at the quarantine facilities of the state
  • Passengers will not be allowed to enter containment zones.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in India surged to 145,380. Maharashtra witnessed a slight decline in daily COVID-19 count on Monday. Tamil Nadu saw reported over 800 in last 24 hours, the highest single-day spike so far in the state. India recorded 146 deaths due to coronavirus infection taking the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 4,167.
